How it All Began
In 1992, as a 15-year-old on a family trip to Switzerland, I had an encounter that would shape my life. We visited a former colleague of my father, whose son had an impressive watch collection. Not luxury pieces, but affordable watches – each with its own unique details. I was fascinated by how colors, shapes, and materials could give every timepiece a distinct identity.
When I was told, “You’ve come all the way from Norway to Switzerland – you must bring home a Swiss watch,” I chose a black diver’s watch with orange details. That moment sparked my lifelong passion.

From Dream to Reality
In the years that followed, I collected watches, always searching for something unique. The dream of designing my own watch lived within me, but for many years remained a secret. My studies took me to the Netherlands, where I trained as a physiotherapist – yet even then, I spent countless hours in watch shops studying design.
After graduation, my passion grew stronger. I devoured watch magazines, later digital publications. The dream remained, until the day after I married my wife. I said: “The only thing missing in my life is to design a watch.” Her reply was simple: “Then do it.”
Those words marked the beginning of what today is BRUVIK FINE TIMEPIECES.

The Story of Bruvik
Through connections, I found Swiss manufacturers who believed in my ideas. The process was long, but along the way the brand took shape. I chose to tie the designs closely to Norwegian nature and history – because I believe every product needs a story, an inspiration, and that this must be visible in the design itself.
I call it honest design: inspiration not only spoken about but reflected in form, details, and concept.

Recognition and Breakthrough
As a pioneer in Norwegian watch design, I faced both resistance and support. Walking a path no one has walked before is demanding – but it also creates opportunities.
A true highlight came in 2015, when I submitted Lady Fjord to the European Watch of the Year. The watch contained genuine fjord water, encapsulated in the caseback under sapphire glass. To my delight, Lady Fjord became a finalist in the category for women’s watches from 0–100,000 NOK – and won a sensational 2nd place

Philosophy and the Road Ahead
Today, I continue to draw inspiration from nature – fjords, mountains, light, and contrasts. BRUVIK remains a microbrand, but one that represents something unique: the combination of Norwegian identity and Swiss precision.
My goal is to create watches that not only tell time but also tell a story. To inspire, to challenge, and to place Norway firmly on the map of international watchmaking.
Nature is always close – inspiration from the Arctic to the fjords.
